Well hello,
This collection of work started unintentionally as a personal medium for processing, I never expected it to grow as big and bold as it has. I started the smaller pieces on anger shortly after leaving a 17 year abusive relationship, a decision I wasn't completely sure about at the time. Since then I've learned to trust my instincts and honor my experience. Any doubt I once had around leaving is now just a faint shadow and I stand strong in my choice.

My anger dissipated, as anger tends to do, and transformed into something so much bigger. This shift was also reflected in my work. I began to explore themes of growth, healing, and empowerment. My journey has been messy in many ways and these pieces are representative of that, in all it's aspects. The emotion ebbs and flows, in sometimes uncomfortable but necessary ways.

I hope that this work sheds light to the experience of survivors of intimate partner violence. Though our experiences are as varied as we are, they are also the thread that ties us together. Thank you for taking the time to visit today, your support means the world to me.

With gratitude,
Adrienne
Adrienne's Work
Adrienne's work explores the intricate themes of resiliency, post-traumatic growth, and healing through the lens of sewing as a medium for feminist resistance. She highlights how sewing serves as a powerful tool for self-expression and empowerment, allowing individuals to stitch together their experiences and reclaim their narratives. Through her art, Adrienne demonstrates the transformative process of healing, illustrating how creativity can foster resilience and facilitate personal growth in the face of adversity. This unique approach not only honors the stories of but also celebrates the strength found in community and in shared experiences.

She uses a variety of materials and is partial to DMC thread on linen. She has been known to spend a weekend disassembling textiles and then stitching them back together again. Her work references the golden repair techniques of Japanese Kintsugi, biology, and therapeutic visualization exercises.
